The Walter F. Lewis Community Garden

In 2008, the Town of Chelmsford purchased the land on Robin Hill Rd. which was occupied by a horse farm, greenhouses and Jones Farm rented fields. Jones Farm, along with The Chelmsford Open Space Stewardship Program has been working closely with the Town on the future development of this wonderful open space. Now in its third year, interested gardeners are encouraged to sign up soon for the 2012 season. Jones Farm will be at the Winter Farmer's Market at Agway on Maple St. in So. Chelmsford with sign-up forms for the Community Garden.

Community Garden Community Garden

The Chelmsford Openspace Stewardship Program operates all of Chelmsford's open spaces including the new Community Garden on Robin Hill Rd. The Chelmsford Open Space Stewardship is an independent group of volunteers working with the Chelmsford Conservation Commission. It was established in November 2005 by residents who enjoy hiking, being productive and doing things outdoors. While the Conservation Commission manages and protects open space property in the town of Chelmsford, the Stewards maintain and improve the trail systems within these open spaces – anything from picking up trash and keeping the trails free of fallen trees to replacing worn out bridges and kiosks. Stewards provide a daily presence and ongoing maintenance so these special properties can be enjoyed by all.

Anyone interested in getting involved with this wonderful group of volunteers can call Phil Stanway at 978-273-1474. You can also check out their website at www.thechelmsfordian.com

Attention All Gardeners:

All plots in the gardens at Sunny Meadow Farms are full.

We are however constructing a new garden in No. Chelmsford on Wotten Street. We are planning on approximately 32 plots. Wotten Street is just off the center of No. Chelmsford. Anyone wishing to help with this project will have first dibs on their plot location. We will be starting construction in April and hope to have it done in time for planting in May. To sign up to help and to sign up for a plot, call Jones Farm at 978-256-8065. Please leave your name, phone number and email address and we will get in touch with you when construction is slated to begin. Phil Stanway will be coordinating this as usual. Sometimes just getting coffee for the big guys with the big equipment is enough so don't think you can't help at this phase.

Help Wanted at the Wotten Street Farm Garden

We are looking for someone to coordinate, keep track of email addresses and help us in the overall paperwork associated with the Wotten Street Garden. If interested or want more info, call Deb Jones at the Store at 978-256-8065

The new road entrance is ready and usable to the garden sites off Robin Hill Rd. Please use this new road and not the old road. It is just past the old entrance. Thank you!
